Where to Stay in İzmir

İzmir sprawls around the head of a wide bay, with the historic centre and main transport hub on the south shore and more local districts across the water. First-time visitors usually base themselves in Alsancak or Konak for walkable sights, nightlife and easy airport rail links, while beach-seekers head to Çeşme, Alaçatı or Kuşadası, and Ephesus visitors often sleep in Selçuk. For a more local pace, Karşıyaka offers direct İZBAN access and ferry connections to both shores.
